To Know People is to Know About Them as Well
J.C. Thibodaux
To the Calvinist assertion that God knowing people cannot denote that He knows their actions, a simple reply can be made with from scripture.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Matthew 7:15-16
Obviously, no special relationship or even acquaintance is implied here. Simply by the fruits that they produce can false prophets be known. It follows that the argument that God knowing someone necessarily implies a special relationship is logically flawed.
Bottom Line:
-
The usage of the term 'to know' someone also implies knowing much or all about him or her, not necessarily intimate acquaintance.
